Demand better from your candidates in the 2024 EU elections. Better EU legislation has the power to stop unnecessary suffering, ban the cruellest trades in animal products, and protect Europe’s precious wildlife. But it can only happen if we act now.
Ask your candidates to show they’ve listened to the millions of EU citizens - people like you - who want the EU to do more to protect animals.
By making the Vote for Animals pledge, they will be promising to promote 10 key commitments for animals in the next legislative cycle.
This means we have the best chance to pass progressive legislation for animals in the next European Parliament. Ask your candidate to make the pledge for animals. #VoteforAnimals

10 ASKS FOR ANIMALS
I demand that the Commission delivers, without delay, legislation for animal welfare that is not watered down or compromised. I demand that this legislation is ambitious, humane and progressive. I want it to include a ban on cages and other cruel farming practices, as well as better protection for chickens reared for meat, and laying hens. Learn more.
I demand that the Commission introduces more humane rules governing the transportation of animals. I demand a transition to an outright ban on live exports and on the transportation of vulnerable animals; and stricter time limits on the length of every journey, for every animal. Learn more.
I believe it is time we act to protect the welfare of farmed fish during farming, transport and slaughter. We must advance the welfare of target species in wild capture fisheries, and forbid the introduction of octopus farming. Learn more.
I demand that the Common Agricultural Policy supports sustainable food production with high animal welfare at its heart. I will fight for an EU policy that encourages an easy transition towards food production that is healthier, kinder, and more sustainable. Learn more.
Imported animal-based products must respect the same standards as those produced in the European Union. Learn more.
We must work harder, and smarter, to find ways to reduce and replace the use of animals in research, regulatory testing and education. The Commission must put in place clear strategies to make this happen faster. Learn more.
I want the Commission to draft new measures to improve the welfare and conservation of wild animals, including the introduction of a ‘positive list’ of animal species that can be legally kept as pets, and I want stricter rules governing animals kept in captivity. I believe it is essential that we adopt measures that require us to coexist with wild animals in a more humane and sustainable way. Learn more.
It is time to end the horrific practice of fur farming. And I believe it is time to ban the placement of farmed fur products on the European market, in line with the wishes of millions of EU citizens. Learn more.
I want to strengthen the Commission’s proposal for a new Companion Animal Regulation. I want to stop poor breeding practices, secure pet’s wellbeing during transportation, tackle the illegal pet trade and request stricter controls when sold/advertised online. Learn more.
It is time to give animals a better future. We must avoid another prolonged period of inaction. I believe a dedicated EU Commissioner can finally give animal welfare the attention it deserves. Learn more.
